Even if I were being modest, I’d have to admit I am an exceptional cook. My friends and family love chomping on the delicious meals I whip up and are always chasing after me to reveal my recipes and other culinary secrets. Well, they’re in luck. I’ve decided to share one of my most highly prized secrets with the world. The reason I am able to prepare meals that are tasty yet healthy is because I regularly order bulk spices from Van de Vries Spices. Here are three spices you should use regularly for good health and delicious food.
The first spice is cinnamon. Cinnamon has an amazing nutty, spicy aroma that is quite unlike any other spice in the world. I sprinkle cinnamon liberally in my desserts, especially lighter desserts such as lemon mousse and fruit meringues, to give them a bit more punch and body. I love cinnamon because it’s the ideal way to keep your arteries healthy by improving blood circulation and killing bad cholesterol. If you have a history of cardiac disease in your family, please eat cinnamon more often!
Another spice I’m very fond of is parsley. Parsley is highly recommended by health experts because it is great for kidney health. If you suffer from kidney stones, you’ll be pleased to note that parsley is famous for helping relieve kidney pain and pass kidney stones. Parsley also fights halitosis or bad breath by killing nasty bacteria in your mouth and filling your mouth with its bright, fresh aroma. Place a sprig of parsley in meat dishes, salads or pastas.
Finally, we have the much-maligned garlic. Garlic is a spice that can provide a massive helping hand to your immune system because it has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties! If your kid’s ill, feed him some white fish baked in a garlic broth or some porridge spiced with minced garlic and he’ll be better in no time at all. It does cause bad breath, but I’d rather have bad breath than the sniffles and at any rate, you can always add a sprig of parsley into your garlic-based dish to counteract this particular side effect!
Buying bulk spices is a very affordable way to make your cooking healthier and tastier. If you want to emulate my success in the kitchen, get some of these great spices today.

What Happened to my Roof?
Posted by adminSep 1
We went on vacation one weekend in July. There were no big storms or anything else scheduled or predicted when we left, but upon return a tree was through our roof. We apparently had a freak storm come through the night before we came home. The house was a mess and water had damaged everything in my living room. It was incredibly upsetting. It was also the first time I had to call the insurance company for a claim. They assured me they would get some Maryland roofing contractors out there to assess the damage as soon as possible.
A contractor showed up the next day. Luckily we were able to tarp the roof because it was raining up until an hour before he arrived. We had the company look at both the roof damage and also the damage to the interior of the house. As they were inspecting, the tree company came out to remove the tree from the house and yard. Within a few hours the tree was gone and the full extent of the damage was revealed. The contractors said that we would need significant repairs that would take at least two weeks just for the roof damage.
A full roof team was out at our house two days later. I never expected them to work so quickly with our insurance company once we had paid the deductible. They worked diligently to fix the huge hole in the roof and to make it structurally sound again. The roofers were actually finished ahead of schedule, just 10 days after starting the repairs. The roof itself looks as good as new again. We were advised that the work they did was guaranteed not to leak and that our new roof has a ten year warranty against leaks and defects.

Four Great Ideas for A Beach Themed Sweet 16 Party
Posted by adminMay 28
Your daughter only turns sweet 16 once and you want to make it a birthday that she will always cherish and remember. A beach themed sweet sixteen party is one that she and her friends will enjoy and talk about for years to come. There are many ideas for beach themed parties but we will discuss the top three in the list below.
- Refreshments are one of the most important things at any teenagers sweet 16 party, so making sure that you have plenty of the kind of food they eat is a must do. What is a beach party without hamburgers and hot dogs? Fire up the grill, grab some chips and sodas and your party will be off to a rocking start.
- Entertainment for a beach party is simple. Either hire a band or DJ to play beach music or have one of your daughters friends play DJ, as she or he will know exactly what kind of music is required.
- Since your party is beach themed, you will want activities that are beach related. Set up a volleyball net and start a game, or set up a limbo stick and have the party guests play the game to the tune of beach music.
- While the beach is decoration enough, it will be a nice added touch if you decorate with tiki torches and maybe string some lights on a pavilion or gazebo. Put some flowers and summery candles on the tables that you are using for refreshments, just to give it that feminine look that your sweet 16 princess is probably craving. Don’t forget to clean up your mess and put out the bonfire when you start to leave. Our beaches are a privilege to use, not a right and should be taken care of properly, for others to use later on.
